Breastcancerunpugged.com is a grassroots effort to bring information to everyone dealing with this catastropic disease.

My perspective is unique.  I've been impacted by breast cancer since before birth.  My mother had breast cancer while pregnant with me in 1956.  Breast cancer has been part of vocabulary since I could speak.  I've never known a world without breast cancer.

Breast cancer creates a fear that can paralyze the strongest.  We need to look it in the eye and win.  Small victories are success.  There is so much information, much contradictory in our news everyday.  Being thrown into this quagmire while attempting to maintain your own sanity is nearly impossible.

I'm not a doctor, my expertise is from my own survival.  As a child I watched my mother battle breast cancer while raising 5 children and working as a teacher.  My own " LUMP ODYSSEY" began at age 46.  I had a bi-lateral mastectomy, chemo - the whole deal and as I write this, my niece is in the battle.

I'm trying to open windows, create dialog and address the day to day struggles of surviving breast cancer.  I was shocked to discover so many of the large breast cancer sites focus more on fund raising than addressing basic questions and answers we crave when given our preliminary diagnosis.  We are filled with fear and and are frantic.  Of course we need the research, we want cures but shouldn't we be able to get answers to our most simple questions?  Not there is anything simple about any part of breast cancer.

I will weed through the scores of information, from the basic to the state of the art.  Hopefully it will give you some viable information to discuss with your doctors, family and friends.  Information is power and hope.

While living with breast cancer we will proudly hold our heads, perhaps bald, high.
